Flying Squirrel, Bat, and Mouse Exclusion — Malvern, PA (Chester County)

The homeowner contacted our pest control company after hearing nocturnal activity in their attic. During the inspection, our team discovered extensive evidence of flying squirrel and bat activity, including droppings, nesting materials, and feeding signs. Several access points were identified around dormers, roof eaves, fascia, and corners — all common vulnerabilities in older residential properties in Chester County.

Following the inspection, our technicians reviewed photographs of the affected areas with the client and explained various wildlife removal and exclusion options. We developed a custom pest service plan outlining one‑way excluder installations, sealing and repairing primary and secondary access points, and applying preventive pest control treatments to ensure no re‑entering rodents or pests.

Once approved, the team began exclusion and repair work in phases—starting with areas not being actively used by the pests to avoid trapping wildlife inside. One‑way excluders were installed to allow flying squirrels and bats to safely exit without returning. Excluders for flying squirrels were removed after one week, while bat excluders remained until mid‑May when the bats naturally emerged from hibernation.

All work was completed using ladders reaching up to 32 feet, with specialized roof equipment including roof jacks, pitch hoppers, and “chicken ladders.” Materials used included white aluminum coil stock flashing, stainless steel mesh, wildlife‑grade caulk, and professional‑grade fasteners. Despite challenges such as extreme cold, ice, and steep roof pitches, the team completed the job safely and efficiently.
